Horace L. Callender

Horace Loice Callender "H.L.” 85 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026. He was born on December 13, 1940 in Ocean Springs to George Edward and Vivian. He graduated from St. Martin High School.

He was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding as an outside machinist superintendent. He served in the Air National Guard Reserve. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, watching football, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Horace was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Katherine (Tootie) Callender; parents, George Edward and Vivian Callender; and siblings George Callender and Michael Callender. 

He is survived by his child, Horace L. (Debbie) Callender; grandchildren, Andrew (Victoria) Callender, Jacob (Treasure) Callender, Jessica (Daniel) Lane; step grandchildren, William (Kayla) Ziz, Jr., Peyton (Shianne) Piglia, and Alyssa Piglia; great grandchildren, Ava, Vivian, and Adalee Callender, Jensen Callender, and Eliza and Thatcher Lane; step great grandchild, Cleona Piglia; and siblings, David Callender and Kathy Usnik.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Seymour Cemetery.
