Howard E. Ackerman

Howard E. Ackerman, age 86, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in Gulfport. He was a native of Whitaker, PA and had been a resident of Gulfport since February 2006. He attended St. Matthews Luthern Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal. He was a pattern maker for U.S. Steel for 20 years and then transferred to U.S. Steel Gary Works as a supervisor for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Mae Ackerman. He is survived by a son, Clarence Ackerman and his wife, Suzanne of Gulfport; a sister, Olive Carpenter of Toronto, OH; a brother, Donald Ackerman of Monroeville, PA; and two grandchildren, Michael Ackerman of Valparaiso, IN and Carey Ackerman of Minneapolis, MN. The funeral service is Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service.
