Hugh Winfield Saucier, age 90, passed away at home in Lyman, MS, attended by family on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Mr. Saucier was born on March 25, 1934 in Lyman, MS. His parents were the late Homer Jackson Saucier and Hazel Blanche Landrum Saucier. He was a graduate of Lyman High School in Lyman, MS. Afterwards, Mr. Saucier was in the U.S. Army, and served in Korea as part of the post-Korean War forces patrolling the DMZ from 1956-1958. After the war, he married his wife, Patricia Ann Evans Saucier, and settled in Lyman, MS. For many years, he worked as a welding supply salesman and store manager for Gulf Welding Equipment Co., Inc. and Nordan-Smith Inc. He was well thought of in the sales community for his personable nature, and his honesty in dealing with everyone from gypsy welder to millionaire shipyard owner alike.

Mr. Saucier was a widely read man who had interests in many subjects, particularly world, national, and local history. He enjoyed nature and was often outdoors. He had good mechanical ability, and restored an antique tractor to working order and was fond of using it to clean and maintain his property.

He was a deeply spiritual man and a Christian who knew and read the Bible often. In his late 70s he developed an interest in the Internet and used it to expand his knowledge base of history and world affairs, as well as learning new skills in mechanics and repair, along with many other subjects. He was a good dog owner and enjoyed the company of many canine companions during his long life. His love for his family was always his guiding light. His forthrightness and honesty, as well as his kindness and good nature, were well known and valued by his family and friends.

Mr. Saucier was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann (Evans) Saucier; parents Homer J. Saucier and Blanche (Landrum) Saucier; brothers Byron Saucier and William Jackson ("Billy Jack") Saucier; sisters Hazel (Saucier) Herrington, Beryl (Saucier) King, and Patricia (Saucier) Boyd.
