Hupert R. Hurlbert, age 93, died Saturday, April 5, 2014.
Mr. Hurlbert was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a 30 year WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veteran and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer with honors. Mr. Hurlbert was a member of Shriners and an American Legion member. He was a Mason/Scottish Rite 32 degree. Mr. Hurlbert was an avid fisherman, a skeet shooter and a hunter. He especially loved gathering together with nieces, nephews, family and friends for birthday and holiday celebrations. He also retired from Gulfport Mosquito Control.
Mr. Hurlbert was preceded in death by his wife, Lila “Marsha” Hurlbert; his parents, John and Nora Hurlbert; sister, Mildred Williams; and brothers, Elvin C. “Cotton” Hurlbert, Ervin Jason “Tony” Hurlbert and Earl R. “Skeeter” Hurlbert.
He is survived by his nieces, Toni (Terry) Adams, Diane Hurlbert, and Cheryl Sexton, all of Gulfport, MS; and nephews, Johnny (Judy) Williams of Clermont, FL, Joseph (Christine) Williams, of Rincon, GA and Stevie Ray Williams, of Guyton, GA.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, where friends may visit 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Floral Hills, Gulfport, MS.
