Mrs. Iona Louise Maples Lamey, age 73, of the Latimer Community, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
Ona Louise was a lifelong resident of Latimer, was formerly employed with E.R. Moore in Ocean Springs and was a member of Latimer Assembly of God Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the best cook, had the biggest heart and her door was always open to everyone. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Another Angel has now gotten her wings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Leroy Maples and Ona Lee Page Maples and two brothers, Ira Luther Maples and Floyd Byron Maples, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Arthur Leslie Lamey, Jr., two daughters, Leighann Lamey (Wayne) King and Crystal S. (fiancee', James Job III) Lamey, two sons, Leslie Brian (Lynette) Lamey and Byron (Jill) Lamey, one brother, Jackie (Ruby Jean) Maples, four grandchildren, Miranda Lamey and Brooke Lamey, Courtney Lamey (Marshall) Stanley and Sierra Lamey, and four great-grandchildren, Branson, Austin, Kaileigh and Emaleigh, all of Latimer.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 2011, from 6 pm until 9 pm, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Friday, December 16, 2011, there will be a 10 am service in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Maples Family Cemetery.
Reverend Mike Cauley will be officiating and the pallbearers will be Brian Lamey, Byron Lamey, Wayne King, James Job III, Michael Holley and Joey Saucier.
