Iris Ford Forbes

Iris Ford Forbes was born at home in Crossroads, MS on October 8, 1929 and passed away on May 18, 2016 at her home in Gulfport, MS. She was a member of the Mississippi City Methodist Church in Gulfport. She attended Pearl River County Junior College before she met and fell in love with her future husband Jack Forbes. Her greatest joy in life was sitting at her easel and painting. She enjoyed watching her plants return a spectacular performance under her love and care. Her beauty and smile are legend. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Forbes, mother Neola Sentille Ford, father Ira Ford, and sister Melda McKenzie. She is survived by her three sons Ronald Forbes (Ronny) of Hattiesburg, Kevin Forbes of Sandy Hook, Jack Forbes Jr. (Jacky) of New Orleans, her grandchildren Ronald Jason Forbes of Ocean Springs, Jennifer Loren Forbes of New Orleans, Kevin Hunter Forbes of Foxworth, Nicole Forbes McKenzie of Darbun and 6 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services at the historic Payne’s Chapel on the grounds of the John Ford Home in Sandy Hook, MS on Friday, May 27th at 10:30 A.M. The last services held in this chapel were 60 years ago for her father Ira, whom she adored.
