Mrs. Hoffman was born on July 5, 1910, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Annie Stewart and Frederick Charles Kay, a school teacher and dairy owner. They were both Canadians who had moved to Colorado in 1887. Irma's grandmother lived to be 105. In 1932 Mrs. Hoffman married Bill Brumbaugh, to whom she was married for 26 years until his death in 1961. They had 2 children, Kay and Raymond. In Pueblo, Irma founded the first pre-school at the Ascension Episcopal Church and for 25 years served as a Blue Lady volunteer at Park View Episcopal Hospital. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she assisted in program preparation and also in the St. Luke's Guild. In 1964 she married John Hoffman and they lived in Pueblo until his death in 1999. Irma moved to Ocean Springs in 1999 and quickly became involved in local organizations. For 10 years she was a volunteer at The Lord Is My Help, a soup kitchen founded by her daughter. She was an avid Scrabble player and played her last game 2 days before her death. On her 100th birthday, Irma was presented the keys to the city by Mayor Connie Moran. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Woods of Ocean Springs, son, Raymond Bruce Brumbaugh of Pueblo, 5 grandchildren, Kenny DiNero and LouAnn Sekul, both of Ocean Springs, Brendan Brumbaugh, Bernay Brumbaugh and Becky Brumbaugh all of Pueblo, 8 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. On Friday, October 18, 2013, there will be a 1 pm church service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to The Lord Is My Help, 1205 Desoto St., Ocean Springs, MS 39564. The family expresses much gratitude to caregivers who have given selflessly for the past four months, Evelyn Bernard, Tina Griffin, Susan Anderson, Mimi Stephens and Shirley Durham.
