Jack Benny “J.B.” Willis, Jr., age 71, of Moss Point, Mississippi, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Jack was born on October 18, 1954, in Heidelberg, Mississippi, to Lonnie and Catherine Plummer.
Jack Willis lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness. Jack will be remembered as a devoted husband and dad. He was known for his personality, to know him was to love him. He retired in 2016 as a professional first-class painter of 40 years at Ingalls. During his spare time, he enjoyed football, speed racing his racecars, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was a natural protector, loyal, kind and caring.
He was preceded in death by his parents whom he loved dearly, Mr. Lonnie and Catherine Plummer; sister, Hazel Plummer; and brothers, Albert Willis Jr., Joe lee Willis, Irvin Willis, Lonnie Plummer Jr., Larry Willis, and David Willis.
Jack leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Luerether “Kathy” Willis; sons, Benny Ray of Gautier, MS, Lee Mccorkle (Tim) of Moss Point, MS, and Rodney, Jr.; daughters, Tori Mccovery of AL, Sharunda Stokes of Moss Point, MS, Jackie, and Sha(Joseph) Preyear of Ocean Spring, MS.; brothers, Allen Willis (Barbarakay) of Marrere, LA, Carl Willis of New Orleans, LA and Clarence (Betty) Willis of Shubuta, MS; sisters, Lula (Oscar) Reed of Heidelberg, MS, Parley (Sylvester) Williams of Biloxi, MS, and Cal Plummer of Biloxi, MS; and sister-in-law, Jouna Plummer of Pascagoula, MS; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at East Baptist Church, located at 1092 County 290, Pachuta, MS 39347. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Charlie & Effie Lee Strickland Memorial Cemetery in Bennett, MS.
Jack will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for cars and sports, and the many lives he touched. Though he left us unexpectedly, his life will continue through our memories.
