Jacob J. Geraci Jr.

Jacob “Jake” James Geraci, 82, of Biloxi, MS passed away at his home on December 9, 2021. Jake was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Jacob James Geraci, Sr. And Maxie Mae Geraci. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 23 years, his three sons, Tre Geraci, Greg Walls, and Wendell Shoemaker, his daughter, Nancy Brock and granddaughter, Devinn Brock and his three grandsons, Tre Shoemaker, Kyle Weaver and Ryan Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Vita Blair, Lacy Musgrove, Violet Serpas, Jerry Wilson, Joseph Geraci, Paul Geraci and Christeen Ladner. Jake attended high school in New Orleans and after high school he joined the Navy and served for four years on the U.S. Layte aircraft carrier and in the Azores. Following that tour of duty, Jake then worked for American General Insurance in Louisiana as an insurance agent for several years. After that, he joined Daniel Battery Company in Baton Rouge for ten years where he learned the battery business. Jake then went on to open his own company, Acadia Battery, in Chalmette and Opelousas, LA. In 1998, Jake sold that Company and moved to Biloxi, MS, where he opened his business, Coast Battery which he operated until 2019 when he sold the business and retired. Jake was an outstanding person, a great husband, family man, neighbor and a friend to all those that he met. His personality was such that he never met a stranger and he enjoyed Cajun cooking which he shared with many of his neighbors throughout the years. He is best known for his Amaretto Cake which he always brought to the neighborhood parties. Jake was a fixture in the neighborhood. Every evening, just before dark, he would take his golf cart along with his two “fur babies” for their daily ride around the entire neighborhood. He would then return home to feed the fish in the river. Some days the ride would take a little longer because he would stop and talk with any of his neighbors that he ran into along the way about a variety of subjects from politics to sports. He was an avid LSU fan. He had a giant stuffed tiger that had a prominent place in his motorhome front window. He truly bled purple and gold and enjoyed cheering for his favorite football team. Funeral service will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home at 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi on Thursday, December 16, 2021 beginning with visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 am with services to follow. Dr. Argile Smith will be officiating. Internment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue in Biloxi at 12:30 pm.
