On Friday, May 23, Jacqueline “Jackie” Barhanovich Campbell slipped away from this earth to be reunited with the love of her life, husband Adron Campbell, who had preceded her to heaven. They had been married for over 60 years.
A Biloxi native, Jackie was the daughter of the late Antonia “Toni” Stanovich Barhanovich and late Anthony Barhanovich. Her brother, Jock Wayne, also preceded her in death.
Jackie is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Adriann and Ken Griffith of Denham Springs, Louisiana. The true lights of her life were those she always referred to as “my babies, “ her treasured grandchildren, Adam Griffith of Nashville, Tennessee and Elizabeth Griffith Bunch of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Liz’s children Breauna, Tyson, and Colin Bunch. These youngsters she adored so much share countless stories about the Grammy they love and miss.
Jackie graduated from Biloxi High School in 1956 and began her life as an army wife soon after, settling in Ocean Springs in 1960.
Funny and talkative, Jackie enjoyed people tremendously. She thrived in roles such as P.T.A. president as a young mother and desk attendant at Villa Maria Retirement Apartments as a senior adult. At one time the longest-tenured resident of the Villa, her welcoming presence “working the desk” was a fixture for decades.
