James Thomas “JT” Baker, 89, of Long Beach died Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Baker was born in Pachuta, MS and was a longtime resident of the coast.
He was retired from the Post Office where he began at an entry level position and retired as the Postmaster.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Long Beach Masonic Lodge. He was a Shriner and a member of the UFW where he was a former commander. He served in the US Marine Corps and was a fan of Ole Miss football.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Baker, and his siblings, Charles Baker, Cecil Baker and Marie Hornsby.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly O’Connell, Kim Baker and Belinda (Stephen) Cangelosi and his grandchildren, Aaron “Cody” (Sherri) Smith and Johannah and Olivia Cangelosi.
Funeral services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street Gulfport, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 1:15 pm. Friends may visit beginning at noon. Interment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corps at 2:30 pm.
