Mr. James Meyer Henry, age 68, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Biloxi. Mr. Henry was born in Hattiesburg, MS and had been a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He was a 1966 graduate of Gulfport High School and a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of Vietnam. During his military service he received many citations and awards including a Purple Heart. He was formerly employed with Shell Oil Company. Jim, as he was known by his friends, will be remembered for his quick wit and amazing sense of humor. He was an exceptional fisherman and a talented artist. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Berch Waldo and Loramarie Meyer Henry; and a brother, Dave Henry. He is survived by his son, Jim (Beth) Henry; grandchildren, Grayson and Reese Henry; sisters, Patti (Shorty) Sneed and Mary Beth (James) Barnett; and his brother, Bill (Alison) Henry of Gulfport.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and administration of Biloxi V A Medical Center for the warmth and attention provided James while in their care.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial donations to be made to the Biloxi V A, Control Point #5556, 400 Veteran's Ave., Biloxi, MS 39531.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi. A procession will leave the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. for graveside services at 2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
