James Franklin Lewis

James Franklin Lewis, 81, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 at his residence in Gulfport.

James was born in Gulfport to Roy and Mildred Lewis. He received an Associates Degree from Gulf Coast Community College and served in the US Navy then the MS Air National Guard where he retired after 22 years. He retired as a Gulfport Fire Department fireman and received many awards for his service. His hobbies were playing golf and antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gerald David Lewis; and his brother, Milton Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Eveora Lewis; his children, Dr. Wesley Lewis, and Olya Lewis; daughter-in-law Julie Lewis Simpson; sister-in-law Billie Lewis; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the service. A graveside service with military honors by the US Air Force will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
