James David Wilkinson, 61, of D’Iberville, MS passed away at 1:56 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Merit Health Hospital in Biloxi. James had been sick for several years. He was a fighter and he fought until the end. His heart just got weaker and he just couldn’t fight anymore.
James was born in Port Arthur, TX on August 1, 1955. He was an engineer at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Jackson, MS where he retired in 1996. James served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 10, 1972 – November 7, 1975 with honors and in the U.S. Army from May 30, 1978 – June 27, 1979. He was also a Reverend for Saint Luke Evangelical Christian Ministries. James’ hobbies included Civil War Reenactments, camping, shrimping, fishing and woodworking. His nickname was “Grumpy”. James was a great man, husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
James’ survivors include his wife of 26 years, Carolyn Sue Wilkinson; children, Shawn Wilkinson, Misty Wilkinson, Scottie Davis, Cherilyn Moore, Tanya Darden and Joseph Martin; 12 grandchildren; stepparents, Bob and Barbara Hinds; siblings, Cecil Eugene Wilkinson and Sonya Kaye; and his pet, Bella, who he loved very much.
A visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5:30 pm ~ 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 am.
