Janis Marie Landry Fountain, 90, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in Biloxi.

Ms. Janis was born to Jeanette Lepoma Landry and Emmett Joseph Landry in New Orleans, LA on January 30, 1932.  She was a very devoted and active member of Sacred Heart Parish serving as President and Secretary of the Parish Council and serving on many committees as well as the elementary school board. Ms. Janis was treasurer and handled the funds for the annual bazaar for over 35 years. She also served as a reader and Eucharistic Minister. 

Ms. Janis retired from the Veterans Administration after 30 years of service and in 1981 she was chosen Biloxi VA Outstanding Career Woman. 

After Hurricane Katrina she attended Our Lady of Fatima Parish where as a Eucharistic Minister, she brought communion to the retirement and nursing homes. 

Ms. Janis was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and will be sadly missed by all. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Gerald V. Fountain Sr.; her sister, Sylvia Creel and brother-in-law Junius Creel; her nephews, Lee Landry II and Trey Boyd; and her nieces, Johnda Boyd and Emily Landry. 

Ms. Janis is survived by her son, Jay Fountain (Michella Galle Fountain); her grandsons, Jason Fountain, lan Fountain (Karen Hoppner Fountain) and Andrew Fountain; her great-grandson, Owen Fountain; her great-granddaughters, Allie Andres and Olivia Fountain; her brother, Lee Landry (Jackie Beddingfield Landry); her sister, Susan Landry Goff (Tommy Goff); her brother-in-law, Ronnie Fountain; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank Olga Jackson and Sabrina Merrell for their excellent care of Ms. Janis over the years and we would also like to thank Dr. Bennett Cheney and his staff, Brookdale Senior Living Facility, Merit Health in Biloxi and SAAD Health Care for their excellent care of Ms. Janis. 

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to St. Jude's Children Research in her memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
