Jean L. Barton

Jeanne L Barton was born in Sparks, Georgia January 1, 1934. She went into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Jean would tell you she had a blessed life and would not change any of the experiences she had in her 92 years of life on this earth. Her greatest decision in life came while living in Anchorage, Alaska where she came to know the one true God through his son, Jesus Christ, which began her life as a Christian. Jean attended Bible Baptist in Gulfport and was a faithful member there for a number of years.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Barton.

She was blessed with two daughters, Carol Steenmeyer (Spencer) and René Rippy. She also had 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit from 9 am to 11 am. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Donations can be made to Bible Baptist Gulfport in Jean's honor.

In her last days she progressed in her suffering, declining with each passing day, but she was also confident of where she would spend eternity. John 11:25 says: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live…” As her children we know we will one day see our dear mother again.
