Jessie Marie Smith, age 87, was born September 17,1938 and went to be with her Savior on October 30,2025.
Jessie was one of a kind. She was the most devout Christian that you would ever meet. She spent her days studying the bible and writing her "sermons" and thoughts in her journals. Every conversation that anyone would have with Jessie would always turn to talking about Jesus and the things he had done for her. She also had a dark sense of humor that most would probably find offensive or cynical. But her family loved hearing her jokes and laughing together with her. Jessie was a storyteller at heart. Some of her grandchildren's fondest memories are the countless stories she would tell them as little kids. Her details and imagination were always so vivid, making the stories seem to come to life. Jessie was met with many challenges throughout her life but her faith never wavered. She made sure that the love for her family was never doubted. The memories and love will live on through her grandchildren for this lifetime and many lifetimes to come. There is no doubt that she was welcomed with open arms at those pearly gates by her husband, James "Smitty" Smith and her loving daughter, Vanessa Ruiz, plus numerous other loved ones.
The family that she leaves behind will continue to spread the love of Jesus. Through them, her light will never dim.
The family wants to sincerely thank the staff at St Joseph's Hospice, especially Brandi and Yvette. Thank you both for giving such great care to our Granny.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the O'Neal Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. The O'Neal Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Jessie Marie Smith.
Psalm 150: Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high-sounding cymbals. Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
