Jimmy Turk

Jimmy Turk, 58, of Vancleave, Mississippi, passed away on August 7, 2026. Born on December 23, 1967, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Jimmy lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for his family and his craft.

Jimmy spent an impressive 39 years in the automotive business, where he was widely recognized as a GM World Class Auto Tech. His love for cars extended far beyond his career; it was a defining part of his personal life. A devoted race car enthusiast, Jimmy built multiple race cars not only for himself but also for his children, whom he adored. Most weekends were spent at the dragstrip or dirt track, where he found joy in the thrill of racing and the camaraderie it brought. In quieter moments, he enjoyed building model cars and was diligently working on a miniature mansion for his beloved wife, Tess, that reflected her favorite parts of their home.

Jimmy’s love for his family was unparalleled. He is survived by his wife, Tessa Turk; his children, Travis Turk (Kristen), Derrick Turk (Mikah), Airianna Turk (Landon), Korey Vecchione (Deena), and Christian Vecchione (Maria); his cherished grandchildren, Hagan, Daniel, Cohen, Addie, Kyle, Kamp, and Drake; and his siblings, John Turk, Jesse Turk, and Joana Turk. His love extended to his furry family members as well — his pups Dexter and Jax — and even to his grand-pups, Koda, Ace, Yuna, and Tee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Minnie Turk; sister, Judy Walker; sister-in-law, Jeannie Turk; nephew, Trevor Kitchens; son, Kraig Vecchione; and granddaughter, Mila Turk.

Jimmy had a zest for life that was infectious. He loved cooking for his family and took great pleasure in watching them enjoy the meals he prepared — though he himself preferred uncrustables and pop tarts. He had a knack for making moonshine with unique flavors that reflected his creative spirit. When his children were younger, Jimmy was an enthusiastic coach for various sports teams and even assisted with his daughter’s cheer team. A big kid at heart, he brought energy and fun to every aspect of life.

Known for helping others without hesitation — whether it was fixing a car or lending a hand to a stranger — Jimmy embodied generosity and kindness. The only thing he would do was calm down, lol.

Jimmy’s legacy is one of love: love for his family, love for racing, and love for life itself. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him. May the roar of engines at the racetrack always remind us of Jimmy’s spirited presence.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport MS. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Reno's Sports Pub, 994 Rodriguez St., D’Iberville, MS. Hot rods, cruise-in, and everyone welcome.
