Joann Arceneaux Kernaghan

Joann Arceneaux Kernaghan, 79, of Biloxi passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026.

She was born on January 19, 1947 to Felix and Gertrude Arceneaux in Biloxi, MS. She attended Biloxi High School. Marriage carried her to Houston, TX, where she had a career in banking, but the Biloxi Gulf Coast called her home in the early 2000s, where she had a second, more amusing career as an elementary school lunch lady.

Joann is survived by her sister, Brenda Stansbury; her niece, Jaimie Rivale; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Gertrude Arceneaux; stepfather, Edward Premeaux; twin sister, Betty Ann Smith; brothers, Francis Wayne Premeaux, Robert “Dale” Premeaux, and Earl “Juddy” Skinner; nieces, Sharon Smith and Deborah Smith Montgomery; and by her grandniece, Rebecca Smith.

Joann loved to play Bingo and cards. Candy Crush was no match for her. She was known to go out dancing in her younger years and appreciated a quieter life as she got older. She was an amazing baker and cook, loved to do arts and crafts at the Senior Center, and her family meant the world to her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by a 12:00 p.m. service at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave, Biloxi, MS 39530. Internment to follow at Biloxi Cemetery.
