John D. Seymour

John Davenies Seymour, age 78, of Vancleave, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home.

John was born on June 21, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, to Allen John Seymour Jr. and Marie Louise Seymour. He was a graduate of St. Martin High School and worked for many years with CenterPoint Energy. John proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.

Known affectionately by many nicknames including Pops, Sasquatch, Big John, Davey, and Paw-Paw John, he was loved for his larger-than-life personality and the joy he brought to those around him. John enjoyed watching football and baseball, hunting, fishing, crawfish and crab boils, drag racing, and attending Cruisin’ the Coast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen John Seymour Jr. and Marie Louise Seymour, and his sisters, Frances Darlene Patterson (Moon) and Sandra Marie Joiner (Chick).

John is survived by his children, Joe Seymour and Josh Thompson; his grandchildren, Kadence Seymour, Jacob Seymour, and Elyjah Thompson; and his siblings, Tim Seymour (Deana), Kevin Seymour (Lynda), Donna Wittersheim (Dan), Sherry Anderson (Eric), Angela Lynch (Arnold), Tonya Allen (Buddy), and Renee Cazzell.
