John “Johnny” Henry Kiernan, Sr., age 79, of Ocean Springs, passed away on April 3, 2022. He was born on May 8, 1942, to Ferdinand and Lillian (King) Kiernan. John attended Notre Dame High School in Biloxi MS. He served in the United States Navy and also in the Army and Air Force Reserves. John participated annually in the Walk for Cancer, and loved fishing and being with all his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Lillian (King) Kiernan; his brothers, Ferdinand (Rose) Kiernan, and Ronald Robert Kiernan.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, John Henry Kiernan, Jr. (Amy) Jason Robert (Laura) Kiernan, Cristina D. (Kiernan) (Michael) Browitt; grandchildren, Daniel Kiernan, Brody Kiernan, Matthew Kiernan, and Abigail Kiernan; and his sister, Mary Katherine (Kiernan)(Gary) Brown; and many family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in his honor to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or their favorite charity.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of his care givers during his time of need and all who worked behind the scenes to help us to accomplish this one last honorable memory possible.
Visitation will be on May 6, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, in Ocean Springs, 4900 Riley Rd. Ocean Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am with Interment to follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
