John George Lemien passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his home in the Latimer Community of Vancleave, MS, at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family and close friends.
Mr. Lemien was born in Biloxi on February 26, 1928. He was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was known for his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Mr. Lemien would talk to anyone about his faith in Jehovah, God and his hope of a resurrection to a paradise earth. “Mr. Johnny” as he was known, loved to talk and always made time to talk to people. He was known as a fixture at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and as a “storyteller” and local historian. Many loved his stories of hard times, farm life, island life and Christian life and will miss them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer George Lemien and Rhoda Williams Lemien; his siblings, Elmer Edward Lemien and Elaine Eleanor Rolls.
Mr. Lemien’s survivors include the love of his life, Dorothy Fay Lemien; his children, John Timothy Lemien and Rhoda Joyner; his grandchildren, Raymond Joyner, Richard “Aaron” Joyner and Robyn Joyner; and his great-granddaughter, Sadie Katherine Joyner; and his sister, Rhoda Cruthirds; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a multitude of close generational family friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6813 Cheyenne Rd., Biloxi, MS 39532 on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 6:00 pm. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until service time.
