John T. Minton, Sr., age 93, of Biloxi died Tuesday, June 21 2016, in Biloxi. He was born August 27, 1922 in Baldwin, LA to the late Willis E. and Norma Ann Minton. He was a resident of the coast since 1947 and attended Trinity Baptist Church. John joined the Army during WW II and served in food services at Camp Shelby. He later joined the Air Force and served at Kemp during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1965 at Keesler AFB. John worked as a machinist with the municipal transportation on the coast until Hurricane Camille. He also worked at Ingalls and Civil Service at Keesler from 1974 to 1988.
John took care of his wife of 62 years. He loved to garden and go fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gena Marie Minton; his brother, Eugene Minton, of Gulfport; and his daughter-in-law, Donna Minton. He is survived by his three sons, John T. Minton, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, Kenith Minton and his wife, Stephanie, both of Biloxi and Stephen Minton and his wife, Elaine, of Houston, TX; brother, Norman Minton; sister, Katherine Minton of Clinton, MS; five grandchildren, Evelyn Sacks and Gena Parlin of Biloxi, Manning Minton of Cleveland, GA, Stephen Minton, Jr. of Cedar Park, TX and Stacey Minton of Houston, TX; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
