John Wesley Shannon

John Wesley Shannon, 92, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. He was born on November 23, 1933, in Barre, VT to Arthur Earl Shannon and Alice May Shannon. He served as a Staff Sergent in the United States Air Force. He attained a master’s degree in business administration. He was employed for twenty-five years as a Cost Accountant for GE in Utica, New York. John was part of several organizations, such as an AARP Tax Preparer, a New Hartford, NY Pop Warner Treasurer, a Salvation Army, and Utica Boilermaker Volunteer.

John was of Presbyterian faith. He was an adjunct Professor at MGCC teaching accounting. He was a long-time resident of New Hartford, NY, and was frequently present at Little League and High School football games. He was an avid sports fan of Syracuse University Football holding season tickets. His hobbies included bridge, bowling, and golf. He loved his pets: Kelly, George, and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Shannon; in-laws, John and Frances Scrizzi; siblings, Richard, Howard, Donald, Earlene, and Michael; and son-in-law, Joseph Spatuzzi.

John is survived by his spouse, Joyce Shannon; daughters, Wendy Spatuzzi and Terri (Len) Maiolatesi; son, Patrick Shannon; and seven grandchildren.
