On September 13, 2016 at the age of 52, John Michael Trevino slipped away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family at Gulfport Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with Cancer.
John was born in Rantoul, IL on Chanute Air Force Base on October 4, 1963. He was the third child and second son of Jean and Jose G. Trevino.
John graduated from Biloxi High School and went on to join the Marines. John was also an accomplished Mississippi Gulf Coast artist.
John was the epitome of youth, full of joy, and was truly Peter Pan. Never an hour went by when John did not share his magical thinking exhibiting playful anecdotes to all those around him. John never met a stranger he did not want to feed or offer a drink.
To John’s friends, he was a loyal deep hearted spirit who saw goodness in everyone and could make anyone laugh.
John is preceded in death by his brother, David Anthony Trevino, who died in 1975 at the age of 18; and his father, Jose Guadalupe Trevino, in 1994.
John leaves his mother, Jean Asplin Trevino; his sister, Tricia (Ted) Mason, his nieces, Angelique (Carl) Mackey and Amber (Michael) Davis; and his grandnieces, Eden Willow, Everly Grace, Gretel Isabella, Cora Annaleigh and Liesel Lorelei.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit from 1:00 pm until service time.
When God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
He put his arms around you
And whispered come to me
He didn't like what you went through
And he gave you rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
And when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful and free from pain
We wouldn't wish you back
To suffer that again
Today we say goodbye
And as you take your final rest
That garden must be beautiful
Because you are one of the best.
