Joseph Michael Abraham

July 18, 1951 — December 6, 2024

Ocean Springs

Joseph Michael Abraham "Joe/Joey", age 73, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Joe was a recent resident of the Gulf Coast and a longtime resident of the Mitten State. He was born at St. Lawrence hospital in Lansing, Michigan and attended St. Gerard Catholic School, where he was an altar boy when he was young. Once completing middle school, he transferred to Waverly High School where he graduated in 1969.

After working at a few different places, such as Clark's gas station, Green Stamp, and Brunette Chemicals to name a few, he landed a position with General Motors in 1981 at the Fisher Body plant. 30 years later, with his final position in the company being a test driver for prototype vehicles around the state, he was able to retire in 2011.

He enjoyed listening to music, gardening, reading MAD magazine and watching old westerns. He loved camping with all his grandkids, fishing, and playing cards with his friends. Anywhere he went, from Florida to the U.P., he would run into someone that knew him. He had an unforgettable face and a magnetic personality that will be greatly missed by all.

Mr. Abraham is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. Abraham and Selma "Sally" Abraham; and his stepmother, Sara Alber.

Survivors include his loving wife of just shy of 50 years of marriage, Susan Abraham; daughters, Alicia Abraham and Sally (Andrew) Maurer; grandchildren, Cecilia (Mitchell) VanNote, Raul "Alex" Flores, Izabella Korroch, Joaquin Flores, and Eli Korroch; sisters, Judith Tardy, Linda (Jim) Lord, and Joanne Boyer; sisters in law, Cynthia Ballard and Debbie Bush; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date in Lansing, Michigan.
