Joseph George Blanton

Joseph George Blanton, 75, of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and in the loving arms of his children at his home in Ocean Springs. He was a devoted father, grandfather, patriot, family man, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.

Joseph proudly served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Air Force. During his years of service, he supported military operations during the Vietnam War and Gulf War. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to serving others through more than 20 years of civil service in support of the United States Air Force. His life reflected integrity, discipline, humility, and a deep sense of duty. Beyond his service, Joseph was known for his caring heart, wisdom, hard work, and the love he poured into his family. He touched many lives through his guidance, generosity, and steady presence. His legacy of strength and compassion will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sombat Blanton.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jennifer Blanton; his son, James “Jimmy” Blanton; his grandchildren, Corbin Shives and Alyssa Shives; his loyal and beloved dog, Lily; along with extended family members, close friends, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort knowing he is now at peace. The love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories shared together will remain with us always.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit from 3:00pm until service time.

An inurnment service with military honors will be held on June 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Honors will include the presentation of colors, a rifle volley, and the playing of Taps in recognition of Joseph’s faithful service to his country.
