Joseph Boyd Bush, born in Martinez, California on January 1922 was taken to heaven on 8/27/2017 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Joe is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Herrin Bush and son Joseph Michael Bush. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marsland Bush, and children, Wayne Rowell, Beverly Rowell Vogel, Darrolyn Hunt and Cynthia Dubrow and grandchildren, Michael Wayne Rowell, Christine Rowell, Jordan Dubrow and Mikenzy Dubrow. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Bush. Joe began his military career at the age of 17. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. After leaving military life, he was employed as an international representative for Inland Steel. After retirement, Joe continued to be active as a senior volunteer. He served as a greeter at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Wal-Mart and the Beau Rivage. Joe was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach where he was a greeter and taught CCD. A graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 1 with reception to follow at the VFW Post 2434 on Veterans Avenue in Biloxi. A mass in Joe’s honor will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach on Tuesday, September 5 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-069 and Disabled American Veterans, 2600 23rd Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
