Joseph Dawayne "Joey" McCarty

Joseph "Joey" Dawayne McCarty, 65, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. He was born on June 28, 1961, in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Joey dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Ingalls Shipyard, where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor and oversaw numerous major projects. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Joey was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone without expecting anything in return. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his two daughters, whom he loved deeply.

Joey enjoyed old vehicles, simple country living, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals. He also loved grabbing a bite from Edd's Drive-Inn or Bozo's Seafood. One of his greatest passions was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and Sunday afternoons were often spent relaxing in his favorite recliner while watching NASCAR. His laughter, kind heart, and old soul will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Dale McCarty.

He is survived by his mother, Deloris McCarty; his daughters, Lindsay McCarty and Laci (Chad) Babin; and his siblings, Pam, Wanda, Billy, and Doug.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs. Words of remembrance will begin at 7:00 p.m.
