Mr. Larry Shultz, age 77, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 in Gulfport. Larry attended Gulfport schools and graduated the class of 1957. After graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country in Norfolk, VA. He met the love of his life Joyce Carr in 1960 and they celebrated 56 years of marriage this past December. Larry was Baptist and a member of Grace Memorial Church in Gulfport. He always wanted to be a firefighter and his wish came true when he was selected to be a Gulfport fireman, Engineer rating. He loved his job during his 20 year career. Larry was a gentle man and was always around when the family needed help. When Grandma "Maggie" was ill, Larry was there to tend to her. Family gatherings were important to him and he was always in attendance with a smile on his face. He loved to fish and hunt with his pal Dennis, watch Nascar racing and follow the Saints football team.
The family wishes to thank the Canon Hospice team for the wonderful care Larry received during his illness.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Julia and Charles Jerry Schultz, Sr.; brothers, Bobby and Charles Schultz, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Joey and Bobby (Janice) Schultz of Gulfport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service is Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, in Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
