Josie G. Bennett

Josie G. Bennett, age 73, of Kiln, left her family to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, after her courageous fight with cancer. Josie loved life and enjoyed lots of laughter. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and most of all her family, sons, grandson, and her very special devoted friend, Liston Necaise of Gulfport. Josie enjoyed her sorority , Beta Sigma Phi and their outings. She was of the Catholic faith, a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Etheline Bennett; and a brother, Sidney Bennett; and brothers-in-law, Cleveland Wyat and Roy Cuevas. Josie leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Gary Garriga and Sonia of Fenton, Reggie Garriga and wife, Brenda of Saucier; grandson Cody Garriga, special friend, Liston Necaise; sisters, Margaret Cuevas of Bay St. Louis, Doris Wyat of Kiln, Barbara Cameron and husband, C.J., of Kiln; brothers, Harlon Bennett and wife, Opal and Gene Bennett and wife Lena Mae, all of Kiln. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Josie's family wishes to thank the compassionate nursing staff of Gulfport Memorial Hospital Oncology, Dr. Davidson, and everyone who sent prayers, gifts, words of encouragement, love and faith to all of us. Visitation will he held Friday evening, November 9, 2007 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln where firends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
