Joyce Mahr Longbine died May 2, 2016 in Richmond, IN at the age of 101.
Mrs. Longbine was born in Mobile, AL on December 2, 1914. The family moved to Biloxi, MS in 1924 where she grew up and graduated from Biloxi High School. At Biloxi High School, she was a member of the basketball, track and tennis teams and voted Best Girl Athlete. She was a member of the Beauvoir Methodist Church.
In 2003, Mrs. Longbine moved to Richmond, IN to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Bill Upchurch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie J. Longbine; her parents, Gus and Clara Mahr; three sisters, Elsie Weigand, Verian Davis and Eleanor Mahr; and her son-in-law, Bill Upchurch.
Survivors include two daughters, Nordine Kibbe and husband Barry of Greenville, TX and Gayle Upchurch of Richmond, IN; a granddaughter, Ellen Shepard and husband Ron of Richmond, IN; a grandson Barry Kibbe, Jr. and wife Beverly of Greenville, TX; three great-granddaughters, Megan, Sarah and Emily Reifeis of Richmond, IN; a great-grandson Brandon Kibbe of Greenville, TX; and a niece, Linda Monley and husband Lance of Daphne, AL.
A Graveside Service will be held at Biloxi City Cemetery on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 am.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
