Mr. Jules A. Schwan, Jr., age 72, of Biloxi died Monday, March 30, 2015.
Jules was the first State President for the Mississippi Catholic Youth Organization. He was a 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a member of the undefeated football team. He attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Unit and Special Forces. Jules was a realtor, member of the Mississippi State Board of Realtors, and worked as a Voter Registrar for the City of Biloxi. He was also a past president of the D’Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, American Legion and V.F.W.
Jules is preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Callie Austin Schwan, Sr.; and brother, Thomas Richard "Dick" Schwan.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Schwan of D’Iberville; sister, Sarah (Bob) Landry of Biloxi; his brother, Robert (Mary Grace) Schwan, Sr. of Mobile, AL; his nieces and nephew, Robert A. (Diane) Schwan, Jr. and Theresa Schwan (Jeremy) Williams both of Mobile, AL; Julia Claire Landry of Santa Clara, CA and Lucy Ellen Landry (Avery Cummings) of Biloxi; and his great-niece, Shelby Schwan and great-nephews, Noah Schwan and Cade and Jacob Williams, all of Mobile, AL.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Vanessa Duncombe, Dr. Marion Wainwright and Kim Nguyen for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1900 Dunbarton Dr. Suite H, Jackson, MS 39216.
Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
