Kathy Lynne King, age 74 of Biloxi, MS passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.
Kathy was born May, 13, 1950 in Huron, Beadle County, SD, the daughter of Eugene Garner Horton and Elizabeth (Stobart) Horton. Kathy married her husband Clarence “Kasy” Allen King at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church on October 22, 2000.
Kathy graduated with a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1972 and accepted a position as Library Director for the Muskego Public Library, Muskego, WI. In 1980 she moved from the public library sector to special library work as the Library Director and Records Manager for Donohue and Associates in Sheboygan, WI. She continued her growth in special library work at the OSHA Training Institute in Des Plaines, IL. She later established a Business Information Center at Zurich American Insurance Group in Schaumburg, IL. After the death of her father her desire to be closer to family brought her to RMT, Inc. as a Library Director and Records Manager in Madison, WI. From 1995-2010 she was employed at Appleton Papers as their Corporate Librarian. Kathy was passionate about delivering information to her customers. She was a long-time member of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA).
Kathy was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church (EUMC), Appleton, WI and later, Heritage United Methodist Church in Biloxi, MS. She shared her talents as a committee member, bible study teacher, lay speaker, devotional writer and other church activities. Her enjoyment came from riding in and collecting hot air balloon related items (which she had the opportunity to donate to the National Balloon Museum in Indianola, IA). Her special joy was to have gone ballooning first with one of her best friends and later with her future husband. Scrapbooking, arts and crafts activities and RV camping/traveling with her husband and dogs were also of great interest and joy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; and her brother-in-law, Gary Norkofski.
Kathy is survived by her brother, Randall Wayne Horton of D’Iberville, MS; her sister, Sharla (Horton) Norkofski of Oshkosh, WI; two nieces, Danielle Norkofski (Bryan Bottomley) of Oshkosh, WI and Callie Norkofski (Gary Lamp) of Winchester, WI; and a grand-niece, Hayley Sleik.
