Kenneth Riley Wells, 84, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at home after a long illness. |
Born on October 8, 1940, in Edna, TX, Kenneth was the beloved son of Wilburn Riley Wells and Valasta Carolina Matejek. A proud graduate of Vanderbilt Industrial High School, Class of 1958, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated over two decades to civil service, embodying a spirit of commitment and integrity. After retiring, Kenneth continued to serve his community as a security guard at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort, where his quiet strength and steady presence were deeply appreciated. His life was marked by hard work, loyalty, and a deep sense of duty. He will be remembered for the legacy he built through service—both to his country and to those around him. |
He was predeceased by his father, Wilburn Riley Wells; his mother, Valasta (Lottie) Carolina Matejek; and his sister, Donna Kay Townsend. |
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Bellande) Wells; his sister, Dixie Lee Swearingen; and his four daughters, Lisa K. Rainey, Sandy L. McMillan, Kathy L. Goff, and Donna A. Jowers. Kenneth’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing group of hospice workers who cared for him during his illness. Their compassion, dedication, and gentle support brought comfort during a difficult time, and their kindness will never be forgotten. |
Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time.
