Larry John Gilbert

Larry John Gilbert, 69, of Biloxi, MS died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Gulfport, MS. Larry was born December 18, 1942 in Biloxi, MS and was a longtime resident of Biloxi. He was retired from the Biloxi Housing Authority and was of Catholic Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius Paul Gilbert, Sr. and Alma Marie Lamey; his son, Larry John Gilbert, Jr.; his brother-in-law, William Jenkins; his nephew, Robert Earl Robbins; his step-mother, Elsie Gilbert and his step-brother-in-law, Everett Cuevas. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Mendi Epperson of Biloxi, MS; his grandson, Edward Epperson of Vancleave, MS; his granddaughter, Ashley Epperson of North Biloxi, MS; his sisters, Lurline Jenkins of Houston, TX, Joyce Whitfield (Bill) of Bay St. Louis, MS and Carolyn Messer (Bobby) of Gulfport, MS; his brother, Julius P. Gilbert, Jr. (Linda) of Trussville, AL; two step-sisters, Betty Mae Cuevas and Catheleen Scarborough (Fred) of Pass Christian, MS; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Lakeview Nursing Center for taking excellent care of our brother. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507 or to one’s favorite charity. Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. service all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
