Lawrence L. “Larry” Mallett, age 80, of Vancleave, MS passed away on September 24, 2025 in D’Iberville, MS.
He was born in Norwich, CT on February 10, 1945, but became a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Larry was a ship designer at Ingalls Shipbuilding for 35 years, but with over 50 years of shipbuilding experience. Outside of being the best shipbuilder he could be, Larry enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, gardening, and constructing or repairing almost anything. Also, Larry served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Larry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Souza Mallett; parents, Harvey A. Mallett Sr. And Elizabeth (Alberti) Mallett of Norwich, CT; and brother, Harvey A. “Moe” Mallett Jr. of Pensacola, FL.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gilmore (Charles); granddaughters, Katelyn and Gabrielle Gilmore; brothers, Paul Mallett Sr. Of Lisbon, CT and Albert Mallett (Jan) of Colchester, CT; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers from Right At Home, Greenbriar Nursing Home, and Deaconess Hospice for their loving care.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Ocean Springs.
