Leo Vincent Seicshnaydre, Jr., age 88, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Leo was born on December 20, 1937, in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from St. Anthony Grammar School and Jesuit High School, Class of 1956, LSU, Class of 1962, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Leo was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Commissioned in 1962 @ LSU and stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
Leo had a fascination with cars and extensive knowledge from an early age and was able to describe the make and model. He worked at his uncle’s service station as a teenager, which led to his passion for cars. He later worked for Hertz Rent-A-Car in New Orleans and learned of the ability to purchase the franchises in Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula. Leo and Judy moved from New Orleans in 1970, when they bought the Hertz Rent-A-Car franchises on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He became a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club in 1972, a member of Bayou Bluff Tennis Club, a board member of Westminster Academy, Metropolitan Dinner Club, Knights of Columbus, Studebaker Club, Rotary Club member, Endymion Carnival Association, and Mississippi Transportation Association. Leo sponsored youth sports and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He owned several used car lots and in later years worked for Chrysler Corporation and then was a courier for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
Leo enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, original classic cars, Cruisin’ the Coast (where he won several Best of Show with his group of Studebakers), spending time with his family, and frequenting restaurants on the Coast and in New Orleans.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Vincent Seicshnaydre, Sr. and Irma Jennewine Seicshnaydre.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Judith “Judy” Wood Seicshnaydre; children, Dr. Michael (Aimee) Seicshnaydre, Sherry Seicshnaydre, Leanne Seicshnaydre, and Leo (Margaret) Seicshnaydre III; grandchildren, Annie Lenoir, Ella Lenoir, LeeLee Seicshnaydre, Lucy Seicshnaydre, Dr. Jacob (Dr. Paige) Seicshnaydre, Luke (Emma) Seicshnaydre, and Marie Seicshnaydre; great-grandson, James Seicshnaydre; and brother, Alan (Rosalind) Seicshnaydre.
The family would like to thank the Vital Caring Team, especially his caregivers: Laverne, Jakeria, Zenobia, Jacqueline, Eboni, and Lori, the Vital Caring Home Health Group, and the Vital Caring Hospice Team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. Friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. A burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans at 3:00 p.m. Please dress in bright colors in honor of Leo.
