Leonard Chastain

d. Oct 3, 2026

Leonard Chastain, a beloved brother, husband, friend, musician, and one-of-a-kind character, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 79.

Leonard leaves behind his sister, Loretta; and his brother, Glen; along with countless friends who, somewhere along the way, stopped being “friends” and became family. He also leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, music, and memories that will remain in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Leonard had a love for music that could not be contained. Give him a microphone and the neighborhood was his audience even if his stage was in the garage. He didn’t need a fancy stage. He made his own. And then there were his cats. Leonard loved them dearly, but Red held a particularly special place in his heart. His cats were family, and anyone who knew Leonard knew that they were not merely pets, they were very important members of the household that kept him company.

Leonard’s life was filled with people he cared about, and he had a remarkable way of turning friendships into lifelong family. The people who gathered around him, laughed with him, listened to his music, and shared those garage concerts will carry those memories forever. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Jan, and we can only imagine the reunion—two people together again, catching up on everything that happened while they were apart. Perhaps Leonard has already picked up his guitar, found a microphone, and started planning the first concert.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Though our hearts are heavy with his absence, we can be grateful for the laughter he gave us, the music he shared, the friendships he built, and the countless memories he left behind. Leonard may no longer be here to sing the next song, tell the next story, or turn a garage into a stage, but his voice, his laughter, his music, and his love will continue to live on in all of us. Rest easy, Leonard. Save us a seat at the next concert. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
