Linda Elizabeth Williams Gray

Linda Elizabeth Williams Gray, 75, of North Biloxi, MS passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Ocean Springs. Ms. Linda was born August 31, 1941 in Ashville, NC to Clyde C. and Mary Ellen Williams. She was a 1959 graduate of Biloxi High School. Ms. Linda received her Associates Degree from Jeff Davis Jr. College and a double major in English from the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. She was a bus driver and teacher for Biloxi Head Start as well as a teacher with the Jackson County School System for 33 years. Later in life she worked for the Catholic Diocese as an ESL teacher for 21 years. Ms. Linda enjoyed coaching softball for the city and church leagues. She was a member of Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, MS. Our mother lived a life of selflessness. She gave to many her time, her wisdom and love. Her greatest accomplishment according to us is the fact that she raised us to know Christ as our lord and savior. She didn't just send us to church, she took us and we worshipped together. Momma was always involved in church, played the piano and organ and even led the youth at church in order to make sure the young people heard about Christ. She was a faithful band parent to all four of her children, traveling and supporting each one of us. She encouraged us to do our best in everything we tried. Her only rule was this: if you start it, you must finish it. Momma was a strong woman who taught many they could do and accomplish anything. She had many friends over the years but made a few close friends that she cherished. Her best friend from childhood, Ms. Jacque Shimkus Kelley from LA, Ms. Edith Skinner (deceased) Ms. Cindy Honeycutt and Ms. Lucy Gievers. We love you ladies and appreciate all that you did and meant to our mother. Lastly. If you spoke with our mom for very long, you knew exactly where she stood in her faith and her walk with Christ. She wanted to make sure her family, friends and all that she met knew Christ. We loved her dearly and will miss her daily. Our hope is in the fact that we will meet again. She has seen Jesus and has been dancing on the streets of gold since Wednesday night, free from pain and breathing easy. She was reunited with her son and parents. Oh what a celebration. We don't understand, but rejoice in knowing that we will see you again. Isaiah 40:31 KJV. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and now be weary, they shall walk, and not faint. Until we meet again mom, we love you! She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Ellen Williams; her mother and father-in-law, John and Lillian Gray; her son, Robert Randall Gray; and her siblings, David Marshall Williams and Dr. Clyde Marion Williams. Ms. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 59 1/2 years, Bobby N. Gray; her children, Mark (Robin) Gray, Shelly (Howard) Magee and David (Anjanette) Gray; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 6 siblings. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Ocean Springs CHF Clinic nursing staff, Ocean Springs Hospital nursing staff and 2 special in home care workers, Jodie Morrow and Christine. Funeral Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:30 pm. Friends may visit from 12:30 pm until service time. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
