Linda Camille McGuffee Osley

November 1, 1946 — September 23, 2022

Ocean Springs

Linda Camille Osley, 75, went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 23, 2022. Linda was born on November 1, 1946, at the new Biloxi Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi. She was a long-time resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Linda graduated from Gulfport High School and then attended Perkinston Jr. College and Jefferson Davis. After Junior college, she attended The University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education.

Linda taught English, reading, and career discovery for thirty-four years. After retirement, she spent her time selflessly giving to and helping others. She spent most of her days greeting and assisting the patrons of Gorenflo’s Tackle Shop. She became a friend to almost everyone that came through the doors. Linda loved to read and write short stories, study her Bible, pray for everyone, work crossword puzzles, and play cards every Saturday night with her dear and life-long friends, Jim and Sherry Branscum and Mary Lepoma. She also loved spending her Monday afternoons with her long-time friend, Laura Morrison and her family. Linda treasured the time that she got to spend with her loving family. Linda’s loving and caring ways and her soft, sweet voice will be missed by all that knew her. Her many generous and random acts of kindness will be missed by all, even those that never knew her name.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Hartwell McGuffee and Alice (Hankins) McGuffee Allen; her husband, John Osley; her in-laws, Paul and Johnnie (Gerkens) Osley; her brother, Durwood McGuffee, Sr. and his wife, Carolyn; and her brother-in-law, Steven Osley.

Linda is survived by her loving step-father, Dempsey Allen; her daughters and loving sons-in-law, Laurie Pitalo (Danny) and Dodie Osley (Robert); her sister, Elaine McGuffee Woods (Joel); her brother, David McGuffee (Cathy); her brothers-in-law, Danny Osley and Ricky Osley (Cindy); her sisters-in-law, Paula Allen (Steve), Susan Dubaz (Danny), and Kai Taylor (Billy). She also leaves behind her wonderful grandchildren: Gage Rutledge (Susan), Jonathan Rutledge (Yuna), Nicole Pitalo Carlisle (Chris), Josh Pitalo (Megan); and her great-grandchildren, Rowan Camille, Camille Rhodes, Callan, Grant, and baby Pitalo arriving in October; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tunnels 2 Towers, The Humane Society of South Mississippi, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or DAO ministries.org.

A visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Thursday, September 29, 2022 with a Christian homecoming service beginning at 4pm. All services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 911 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
