Louis Isadore Scara

Louis Isadore Scara, 83, departed his earthly home in Ocean Springs, MS, for a home in Heaven Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.

Louis was born May 12, 1942, in Biloxi to Louis Joseph Scara, an Ingalls Shipbuilder, and Mildred Margaret “Maggie” (Tiblier) Scara, a homemaker.

After graduating Biloxi High School, Louis married Linda Kay (Mallette) Scara of Saucier, MS, with whom he raised four children. He also helped raise his younger sister, Rhonda, and his brother, Billy, when their mother’s health declined.

Louis was a proud Ingalls shipbuilder for more than 35 years, serving as a welder and welding instructor during his career.

He was a talented musician, using his baritone voice at church and home, learning several instruments and encouraging his children to learn and perform. He was also an artist, working with wood and various media to produce sculptures, canvases, projects and even gag gifts for his coworkers.

He loved seafood, especially oysters and crabs, and he knew the secret to a seafood gumbo that was off the hook. He encouraged his children to improve their lives through military service, and so he is the father to two U.S. Marines and a U.S. Navy Sailor.

He is known mostly for being an honest and loving husband, father, brother, co-worker and friend. More importantly, he loved Jesus, accepted Christ as the Lord of his life and took his family to church often for their spiritual growth.

Louis is preceded in death by son, Louis I. Scara Jr. and Parents, Louis and Maggie.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kay; four children, Rickey Darrel Scara, Warren Shane Scara (Amy Balius), Brian Kane Scara and Christina Marie Scara (Marcellus Pizzetta); five grandchildren, Gracie, Sawyer, Shelby, Callista and Vanessa; his brother, Billy; sister, Rhonda; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit two hours prior.
