Louise Hollingsworth Mitchell

Louise Hollingsworth Mitchell entered into the Kingdom of Heaven and our loving Savior’s arms at her home in Biloxi on July 3, 2015. She was born in Vancleave, MS on November 17, 1926 to parents Valeda Graham Hollingsworth and William B. Hollingsworth Sr. She grew up with her family in southern Mississippi and Louisiana as her father, a Methodist minister, served congregations in multiple locations. She graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1948, married and began her life as a homemaker and mother in New Orleans, LA. The family then moved to Dallas, TX in 1959 and returned to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1976, where she resided for the next 39 years in homes in Vancleave, and more recently in Biloxi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawton C. Mitchell Jr.; her daughter Ann Mitchell Bailey; her son-in-law Tim G. Bailey; siblings Donald Hollingsworth, Elizabeth Denias, William B. Hollingsworth Jr., James Hollingsworth, and Warren Hollingsworth. She is survived by her son, Lawton C. Mitchell III and wife Gwynne; Grandson Brian C. Mitchell and wife Caroline; Great Grand Daughters Blaire Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Reese Mitchell and Addie Mitchell; and her “adopted” family friends the Wiley Gregory family. A lifelong lover of animals, she cared for innumerable cats and dogs, including in recent years her companion Camie, the Yorkie. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 18th at 11 AM at the Bradford O’Keefe Chapel on Jim Ramsey Rd. in Vancleave where friends may visit from 10 AM until service time. Burial will follow in the Graham Family Cemetery on Old River Rd.
