Louise Scarborough DeGeorge, age 85, passed away on March 5, 2016. She was born in Biloxi, MS on July 16, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Biloxi.
As a young girl, she always loved to sing and she won the honor of being the vocalist of the Biloxi High School Orchestra at age 14. At age 16, Louise, who was nicknamed “Bunny” by Professor Marion Carpenter, began singing professionally with the Johnny Bosarge Dixieland Band. She continued singing until long after her four children were born.
Louise graduated from Biloxi High School in 1948, and was active on the Reunion Committee all through the years.
Louise married the love of her life, Russell DeGeorge, on April 9, 1950. Russell passed away three months shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Biloxi and a member of the choir until Hurricane Katrina changed everyone’s lives.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Bobby) DeGrafft and Karen Bolton, both of Biloxi; two sons, Rusty (Teri) DeGeorge of Collierville, TN and Randy (Nicole) DeGeorge of Fredericksburg, VA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bobby Scarborough, Linden, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Frances Scarborough; a brother, Billy Scarborough; and a sister, Mary Frances Dennis.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends and family may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
