Louise Winn

Louise Winn, a devoted and loving mother, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by her children.

Louise was born on February 13, 1936, in Memphis, Missouri, the ninth of nine children born to Retta Ann (Bills) Shelton and John Benjamin Shelton. She was the youngest and only daughter, growing up with eight older brothers who helped shape the strength, determination, and resilience that carried her through life's joys and challenges. Louise was raised in Memphis, where she also began her family, before spending most of her life in Aurora, Indiana. In 2024, she made her home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Louise had many gifts and passions, but caring for animals was one of the greatest joys of her life. She could never turn away a puppy or any furry or feathered friend in need. She also had a remarkable green thumb and found great happiness tending her gardens. Whether she was working on her computer, enjoying a spirited game of cards (where she was known to be quite the card shark), playing checkers, watching action movies, or taking a scenic drive, Louise embraced life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm. She loved country music and dancing, teaching more than one of her daughters how to jitterbug. Christmas was her favorite season, filling her with childlike excitement and anticipation weeks before it arrived.

Above all else, Louise's greatest love was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than caring for her children and grandchildren. She gave her love generously, celebrated their accomplishments, and treasured every moment spent together. Her unwavering love, strength, and gentle heart will remain with all who were blessed to know her.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her eight brothers: Francis Shelton, Jack Shelton, Lloyd Shelton, Paul Shelton, David Shelton, Don Shelton, Gerald Dean Shelton, and Jim Shelton.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Danny Winn, Tony (Gena) Winn, Francis (Scott) Massey, Sherrie Winn (Dennis Boothman), Jan (John) Roberts, and Sheila (Dan) Bressert. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm and the memorial service celebrating Louise's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. At a later date, Louise will be laid to rest in Greendale, Indiana.
