Lucile (Cile) Zachry Shaw, 97, was born in Meridian, Mississippi, on June 14, 1928. She died on January 9, 2026, at her home in Gulfport, Mississippi, surrounded by family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Angie Zachry; her twelve older siblings; her husband, Ralph W. Shaw; and her daughter-in-law, Gigi Jackson Shaw. She is survived by her children, Susan (Doug) Sholes and Scott Shaw; four grandchildren, Lindy (David) Lofton, Tyler (Mary) Sholes, Emily (Josh) Smith, and Melina (Wilkes) Skelton; and eight great-grandchildren, Daelynn, Porter, Joshua, Rebekah, Adeline, Evie, Cile, and Jay.
She attended Meridian High School and upon graduation worked for Dr. Edmund Robinson for eight years. She was an unconditionally devoted wife, mother, and Mimi; an avid reader with an interest in a variety of subjects, particularly medical-related; and she enjoyed playing card games, especially Bridge.
Cile is remembered for her gentle spirit, quietly supporting family and friends. She was a nurturing presence for three generations of children and the kind of wife who was there for her husband until his last breath. She had a servant’s heart, working for more than 20 years as a first grade Sunday school teacher and baby whisperer in the nursery at her church, First Baptist of Gulfport. She kept this heart of service and her quick wit even to her last days, offering food and drink or a clever comeback to any visitors, despite her difficult state of health.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11 AM, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home at 15th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit one hour prior, followed by interment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Gulf Coast Community Ministries.
Cile’s family would like to thank her caregivers, especially three years of outstanding dedication from Carol Pinkney.
