Lynder Theresa “Re’ Re” Yancey, 85 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025.
She was born on October 26, 1939, in Savannah, GA to Jesse James and Mildred Marie Mitchell. She received her GED in the early 80’s and her Kindergarten teaching certificate. She graduated Christian science nursing in 2000. She was a published poet. She’s worked as a Kindergarten teacher, resident manager of warehouses, and a Christian science nurse supervisor at Morningside in FL.
Lynder was very active and supportive in church, including serving as a Sunday school teacher, reader, and librarian. She also enjoyed football; of course, the New Orlean Saints and Kansas City Chiefs. Mom also loved singing, dancing, gardening, fishing, and beach walks.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Frank H. Yancey; children, Tweed Marsh, William R. Penneypacker III, and Amy Lynn Pennypacker; grandchild, Curtis A. Marsh III; and siblings, Mildred Phillips and David Mitchell.
Lynder is survived by her children, Curtis Alton Marsh Jr., Gayle T. Marsh, and Penelope P. Hanser; cousins, Donna and Buck King and Darrell Shirk; grandchildren, Adam Marsh, Benjamin Marsh, Lauren Marsh, Corey Canterbury, and Celsey McConnell; great-grandchildren, Bernadette Sargant, Landon and Rosalie Marsh, Latika Marsh, Adelyn McConnell, River Martinez, Wyatt and Elliot Marsh; and her well loved beautiful Angel kitty.
