Marcus Bernard Bronte, age 64, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. 

Marcus, a proud veteran, was a resident at the Memorial Driftwood Nursing Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. His son, Benjamin, and his sister, Rhonda, were blessed to be with him in his final hours. Marcus was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to parents James Willis Bronte of McCrory, Arkansas, and Arline Prewitt Ballard of Ackerman, Mississippi. His parents passed away in 1997 and 2017 respectively. 

Marcus graduated from Vidalia High School in 1977. After school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served four years in the military stationed primarily in Germany. Marcus worked as a master electrician until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Saint John the Evangelist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Marcus is survived by his son, Benjamin Ray Bronte, and his stepdaughter, Rae Lynn Reynolds, residents of Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by five sisters, Teresa Daniels of Brunswick, Georgia, Rhonda Brown of Conway, Arkansas, Valinda Zerbe of Tampa, Florida, Charlene Cockrell of Arlington, Tennessee, and Darlene Sexton of Memphis, Tennessee.

A graveside service will be  held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. A memorial service for Marcus will also be held at the family cemetery at Mt. Nebo Church in Ackerman, Mississippi. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Bronte family.
