Margaret Braun Hartmann, born July 8, 1924, died peacefully in her sleep on June 9, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Biloxi, Margaret loved the city and especially enjoyed the carnival season. She was one of the first members of the Young Matron’s Organization and looked forward to the annual balls, frequent meetings and parties.
Her family, however, was her greatest joy. She was a faithful wife and partner to her husband, Ernie and a proud and loving mother to her three daughters. She was a doting grandmother always willing to babysit for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through the years. Margaret was active in church activities, serving for many years as a Sunday school teacher and as an active member of women’s organizations within the churches she attended. She was also an active member of parent-teacher organizations and was a supportive mother of her daughters’ outside school activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. and Augusta Shephard Braun; her sister, Janet E. Braun; and her brothers, Alan E. and Charles H. (Tillie) Braun. Also preceding her in death was her devoted husband of 65 years, Ernest H. Hartmann; her beloved daughter, Diane Lusk Miller; and her son-in-law, Rev. Jack Aregood.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Aregood and Karen (Pete) Capuano; and her grandchildren, John (Olivia) Aregood, Jackie Aregood (Mark Russo), Fred Lusk, III, Scott (Misty) Lusk and Peter and Ellen Capuano. Margaret will be missed by her 8 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services for Margaret will be on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Southern Memorial Park.
