Margaret Eleanor Richardson, known to all as Marge, passed away on Aug. 9, 2013 in Ocean Springs and went to the best family reunion of her life, where she will rejoin the love of her life, Boyd Richardson, always known as Rich, and her dear son, Roy, her parents, Louis and Elizabeth Sabo and her siblings, Louis, Bob, Helen, Ethel, Rose and Betty.
Marge was born on Jan. 23, 1922 in Ebensburg, PA. She put herself through nursing school there, a profession that she dearly loved and excelled in. Up to the end of her life, she read every piece of information that came with any medication she took, and kept track of it all.
Marge and Rich had lived in PA, Washington, D.C., MD, AZ and Cheltenham, England. Wherever they lived Marge quickly made it home. Her cooking was renowned and they always enjoyed having friends and family into their home for meals. They enjoyed traveling together and never felt too old to enjoy a trip to Disney World. She loved gardening when she was still able, especially growing beautiful roses.
Marge lost her dearly beloved Rich in 1990 and their son, Roy, in 1995. Life was never the same without them in AZ and so she reluctantly came to Ocean Springs in 2004 at the urging (insistence) of her daughter Beth and son-in-law, Jack. It took all of one month for her to become a happy resident of the Villa Maria, where she earned the nickname, Smiley.
Marge’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren: Kelly (Jake) Shaw, Erin Prisk, Sean (Angela) Riley, Shelley (Steve) Marchetti and Katie (Dan) Graves. She always lit up with her great-grandchildren: Hannah, Reilly and Emma Kate Shaw; Shannon Riley; Audrey, Ava, and Stella Prisk; Amanda and Sara Marchetti; and Ryan and Kylie Graves.
She also enjoyed many long time friendships that were maintained with regular phone calls and cards. Her memory for family birthdays and anniversaries was amazing to everyone. Marge was an avid reader and stayed very informed and knowledgeable about current affairs. She was never shy about letting anyone know her views and opinions!
Marge was a devout Catholic and one of the highlights of her life was a visit to Lourdes, France.
She remained a firm believer in the intercession of the Blessed Mother from that time on.
Marge leaves her daughters, Beth (Jack) Riley and Renee Shank, who will miss her every day and remain forever grateful for her constant love.
